Do Diets Really Work?

In the short term you will drop some weight. But the problem is that doing a crash diet can actually hurt you in the long run. Most people are constantly dieting, and this yo-yo process makes it very difficult for your body to adjust properly. Many jump from one new diet to the next, and they never really solve what is preventing them from loosing weight in the first place.
It is really not possible to loose weight simply by doing some new fad diet. So how do you benefit long-term by this yo-yo process that millions of Americans go through every month? You will loose no real fat by doing a fad diet, just a bunch of water. You will look good in those jeans only to be popping out of them again in a matter of weeks.
Can you imagine loosing a bunch of weight only to find even more of it later. That doesn’t seem right. When you think of conditioning your body it is similar to maintaining a fine automobile. A fine automobile needs to take in the best maintenance products in order to be able to function at the highest level.
These factors even play a role in how long the automobile will actually last you. Our bodies work the same way. What we take in and how we take it in has a direct effect on how our bodies function, and ultimately affect how long we live. If we were to yo-yo between using proper products on our automobile to using poor products all of the time, our automobile will still be affected adversely.
Likewise going back and forth between crash diets and eating healthy will cause long-term harm to our bodies. Once people get off the crash diet they resume their old eating habits and gain no benefit. Having a balanced approach to healthy living which includes eating proper foods and regular exercise is key to being able to have success in the battle of weight loss. I think it is safe to say that just about everyone who gets on a diet wants to have long-term results.
The yo-yo syndrome is a being in a constant state of flux, where you are going from loosing weight to gaining it, eating healthy to eating poorly. The long-term effects on the body can be devastating. Taking “baby steps” in your approach to healthy living is the key to have solid long-term results. Any program that does not involve exercise is a program to avoid.
There is no quick fix here. It is said that there is a wrong way and a right way to do everything. If you are a person who is looking beyond shedding weight after overeating during Christmas dinner then you are on the right track. Make it your aim to spend your time focusing on generating long term results by means of a long-term healthy living pattern.
There is a tremendous amount of damage that can be done to your body by stressing your body by means of constantly going back and forth between fad diets. The darkside of dieting involves the harmful effects of the yo-yo syndrome. Make sure you educate yourself on what your body needs in order to remain healthy.
Don’t be fooled by what you hear on TV. Exercise and eating right leads to living a healthy life. Focus on living a healthy life, your body will thank you. For those who are interested in weight loss, understand it can be a challenge. You will have a healthy life when you manage your weight properly.
I have tried cauliflower half a dozen different ways. I did not like any of them. So I don't eat it. There are so many good foods in the world there is no reason to eat anything that does not give you pleasure. Don't be afraid to experiment. Try them raw, steamed, stir fired, or roasted or in a soup or in a smoothie.
Try them with spices, without spices. Keep trying new things until you find a dozen veggies you like. Then always have them on hand. Fruits make a great snack, much better than rice cakes. Now here is the biggest thing. Grains.4 to 5 servings of whole grains will keep you fat. Many people cannot tolerate grain especially wheat, rye and barley.
That is why you see so many products labeled "gluten free". Even if you do not have a sensitivity to gluten (the protein in wheat, rye and barley) grains put on the weight. This was really brought home to me when, at a restaurant, they had a little sign explaining how the cows they used were organically raised, hormone free and finished with grain for a full 2 weeks before slaughter. Those 2 weeks is what gave their meat a nice fat marbling.
It was a great sales pitch for their steaks but I was struck by the time line. 2 weeks of grain, just 2 weeks made their cattle fat. It makes you and I fat too. This is more true for some people than for others and may change within an individual as they age.
