I almost feel the need to start this with some kind of over-the-top proclamation, promising to get you ready for swimsuit season without any hassle or effort on your part, “For three easy payments of 89.95! That’s how we’ve been conditioned to accept weight loss; it’s a gimmick for pill-pushers and expensive gyms to get us to fork over everything we’ve got.

And I mean everything, our cash, our precious time, and worst of all, our hope that anything out there can help us slim down. Weight loss is a full time job, and, well, most of us already have one or two of those. I figured I would never lose weight, but I knew I at least needed to be healthy.

In hindsight, that’s the best decision to make. Everyone will tell you its not about shedding pounds, but being healthy inside no matter what you look like outside. Unfortunately, this is something you’ll hear a million times, read a million articles about Weight Loss, and start-then-stop every other month. Quite frankly, you have to realize it for yourself, no one can make you get it.

All I can say is, it clicked for me when I gave up. If I couldn’t look like a super model, I could at least try to take care of myself. No one would notice, I might not fit into old jeans again, but I’d be healthy. So I wouldn’t spend 2 hours at the gym 7 days a week, but I’d make a point to get on the treadmill every now and then.

I wouldn’t guzzle green juice to replace my meals, but I’d commit to eating oatmeal every morning. Recently I was at a friend's house, and something caught my eye on her counter. Hiding in a pile of report cards and art projects was an unassuming flyer typed in plain font, with no author listed, titled “Cinnamon and Honey Cures”.

She had grabbed it from a stack of them outside her health food store. Mix 1 TBSP cinnamon with 1 TBSP honey. Pour in 8 ounces boiling water, stir. Consume every night before sleeping, and every morning 30 minutes before eating anything else. I told myself I’d try it, what’s the harm?

It could only help, really; cinnamon is full of important minerals and vitamins, not to mention a ton of fiber (it is tree bark after all). So for a few weeks, I drank this, and not even as often as the flyer said, I only had it after dinner, and only every other day. But I noticed the difference right away.

Not in my weight, though. I didn’t magically lose ten pounds overnight! All jokes aside, my insides felt great. Whenever I’d eat anything heavy or greasy, it was like the cinnamon would clear it all out by the morning. Any indigestion I’d ever had was gone, and no more bad morning breath either. It really is incredible. After 2 weeks I had lost nearly 5 pounds.

A month and a half later, I’ve reached nearly 10 pounds of weight loss. Its not like I wasn’t putting any of my own effort in, but that minimal amount of exercise and very lax calorie counting hadn’t yielded many results before. It’s the case with any weight loss aid, I guess, that they tell you to continue to diet and exercise to see results. This one, however, is all natural, extremely cheap and surprisingly tasty.

And in the end, it helped me with my original goal, to just be healthy. This drink really does relieve a lot of problems like bloating and irregularity, something that most weight loss tricks actually cause. I actually wouldn’t even bother drinking it twice a day, unless you don’t see results, because it does affect your digestion, so you don’t want to overdo it and have to run to the bathroom all day because of it. I also wouldn’t suggest drinking it in the morning if you go directly to work or school, because of what I just mentioned.
