I have been using flax seed daily for the last 5 years. I choose Bob's Red Mill ground flax seed brand. Mostly I use it on oatmeal, with a VERY generous amount. At least 3 table spoons.
It is the best part of my day. In addition to the flax seed, I green juice with wheatgrass and aloe juice, eat vegetarian (mostly vegan) and exercise about 3 days a week. My bloodwork is excellent. Flax seed should NOT be cooked and the oil should not be heated.
